  • Understand the 8 sensory systems and how they shape behaviour
  • Recognise signs of developmental trauma and its impact on brain development
  • Understand attachment styles, relational safety, and co‑regulation
  • Apply the Neurosequential Model of Therapeutics (NMT) principles
  • Use practical sensory & relational strategies to support children
  • Understand sensory pathways to healing trauma

Day 2: Church Leaders, Youth Workers & School Staff

Saturday June 20th | 9.30am - 2.30pm

What does it mean to be trauma informed communities of
faith or education?

Today will cover:

  • Trauma‑informed principles for group settings
  • How sensory profiles affect learning, faith engagement, and group participation
  • How to de‑escalate behaviour through relational approaches
  • Environmental adaptations for safety & regulation
  • Strategies that build connection, belonging, and resilience
  • Understand neurodiversity and how neurotypes (ADHD, autism, FASD, sensory processing differences, learning differences) present in church, school, and youth settings
  • Recognise adaptive survival responses in children and adults (fight/flight/freeze/fawn/fix)
  • Identify how environments can trigger, dysregulate, or overwhelm individuals with trauma histories or neurodiverse profiles
  • Practise supportive strategies for co‑regulation, de‑escalation, and inclusive belonging
  • Design safer, more accessible church and youth environments
  • Consider attachment, safety and regulation from a faith perspective
